3. Managing Newsfeed Categories
Newsfeed Management is the heart of the RSS Advantage Newsticker, this is where you control the news you receive and set your news feed preferences.
In this section we'll cover the management of your news categories. A news category is basically a container or folder where you can group your RSS feeds together.
To access the news ticker display preferences right-click on the ticker bar and click on the "Newsfeed Management" menu option to get to the following screen:

Each function available to you has been hightlighted and numbered in yellow for quick reference. In cases where there is more than one way to do something the numbers have been grouped together in the title. E.g. "3, 5 & 6. Creating and Deleting Newsfeed Categories"
1. The Move Selection Buttons
The up / down arrow buttons serve a dual purpose:
a) to move the selected Category up and down the hierarchy
and
b) to order the selected newsfeed in a category or move it across categories.
You can use the arrows to sort the order in which your news category appears. In the
screenshot above the news ticker will display the categories in the following
order:

Sports
-
New Channels
The news channels within each category follow the same principle and as per the above example the RSS news feeds will be displayed in the following order:
-
CNN Top Stories
-
CNN Money
-
CNN Technology
2. Categories
Categories are used to group your RSS news feeds to make it easier for you to manage.
TIP: A neat trick to use is to create a "First Priority" category and move all the news feeds that you want to see first into that category. Then move that category to the top of the tree. Then whenever you start up RSS Advantage you will get to see your high priority news channels first.
3, 5 & 6. Creating and Deleting Newsfeed Categories
To create a new category click on the green + button and to delete an existing category click on the red X button. You can also right-click in the left-pane of the window to access the news feed menu and then click on the "Add Category" or "Delete Category" menu items.
Note: When you create a new category it is automatically added to the bottom of the tree hierarchy. Another thing worth noting is that you cannot delete a category that has existing news feeds in it. If you try delete a populated category a message will pop up telling you that it cannot be deleted until it is empty. You can empty a category by either deleting the news feeds inside it or by moving the existing news feeds into another category.
4 & 7. Renaming A Category
There are three different ways that you can rename a category. You can use

The right-click menu option and Rename to edit the selected item inside the tree hierarchy

Select the item that you wish to rename in the tree hierarchy and press "F2" on your keyboard.

Select the item that you wish to rename in the tree hierarchy end edit the "Name" field in the details pane on the right-hand side of the window.
8 & 9. Setting the Category Tickerbar Colors
These two options are only available in the NewsMaster Edition.
You can set the tickerbar colors that will be used for all the RSS news feeds in this category with this opton. Note: Setting a color on this level replaces any individual color settings of all the news feeds within this category.
